Well, it was great weather, and in case you can't remember all the displays provided, here is what we had.....
Flight
Lieutenant Jamie Braden from the RAAF's famous aerobatic aircraft
team, the Roulettes, gave us some heart stopping low level flying and
manoeuvres in his Pilatus PC-9 aircraft. The Roulettes are the RAAF's
elite formation aerobatic display team that showcases Air Force flying
skills to the Australian public. Team members are flying instructors at
the Air Force's Central Flying School at Sale, Victoria. Click here to
go to the RAAF Roulettes website..
While our eyes were glued skyward, the RAAF Museum's Squadron Leaders
Stephen Baker and Derek Fox, with Mr Murray Wallace, gave a great
flypast of some of Australia's aviation history with their CT-3 and
Winjeel aircraft. Click here to go to the RAAF Museum website.
Ever wondered what helps keep our troops safe when operating in places
like Afghanistan? The Defence Materiel Organisation displayed a
Bushmaster Infantry Mobility Vehicle. The Bushmaster is in full
production at our Major Sponsor Thales' protected mobility systems
manufacturing facility at Bendigo, Victoria, and is currently used on
operations in Afghanistan, providing protected mobility to our troops
on the ground. Click here to go to the Defence Materiel Organisation's website.
From the rugged to the racing. Our Major Sponsor PDL Toll showcased
their involvement with the motor racing scene with a display of the
Toll HRT race car. You have seen it on the TV screen, and today you saw
its raw power up close! Click here to go to the Toll HRT website.
Our colleagues at
the Metropolitan Fire and Emergency Services Board (MFB) provided their
SmokeBUSter interactive display and many of the children in particular
had the opportunity to experience a fire as a firefighter sees it; from
the alert at the fire station, responding to the information given
about the address and then, on arrival viewing what the firefighters
see inside a house where a fire has occurred. Click here to go to the MFB's SmokeBUSter web page.
Again this year, the starting gun for the races was a 105mm M2A2
Howitzer from the 2nd/10th Field Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery.
Nothing like it to get the race off with a BANG!!!
And the excellent music from the Royal Australian Navy Band, Melbourne
really set the day off. Who will forget the Start Wars troopers
jiving away with some of the kids and parents to "Nutbush City Limits'.

In addition to these great displays, there was:
- activities for the kids
- food and refreshments for sale
- commemorative Defence Lake Attack 2010 T Shirts for sale
- .... and much more
So thankyou again, for enjoying the day with us.
