Event History

2010 marks the twenty eighth anniversary of Defence Charity commitment through the event we now know as the Defence Lake Attack. Having its origins as an Army road relay race between Puckapunyal and Melbourne, the event moved to Albert Park Lake in the mid 1980’s. The event name has undergone name changes in step with Defence restructuring since its inception, but the enduring goal of raising funds for deserving charities remains unchanged.

Now an annual feature at Albert Park Lake, the Defence Lake Attack continues to grow and attract entrants from throughout Melbourne, Victoria and interstate. The event is a great opportunity for Defence personnel, industry and the community to get involved and have some fun, all for a worthy cause.

For the runners, walkers and families, the Defence Lake Attack provides a winning combination of competition and enjoyment in the open air around one of Melbourne's most scenic locations.
